Lulu Coffee: Website for an Authentic Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony Service
A bespoke website for Lulu Coffee — a mobile Ethiopian coffee ceremony service based in Seattle, WA. The site needed to communicate a deeply cultural, experiential offering and convert visitors into bookings for home, office, and event ceremonies.
The Challenge
Lulu Coffee offers something genuinely rare: an authentic Habesha coffee ceremony brought to your door in Seattle. The multi-round ceremony — roasting beans over an open flame, brewing in a traditional Jebena, serving Abol, Tona, and Baraka with frankincense — is unlike anything else in the market. The challenge was building a digital presence that did justice to the cultural depth of the experience while making booking frictionless.
A standard coffee-shop template would flatten the story entirely. The site needed to educate visitors on the tradition, create an emotional connection to the founder's culture, and clearly communicate the service tiers — Essential (one round), Signature (three rounds), and Events — without losing the intimacy that makes the ceremony what it is.
Our Solution
We built a custom, single-page website that immerses visitors in the ceremony before asking anything of them. The visual design uses the deep espresso and warm gold palette of the brand, with serif typography (Cinzel and Cormorant Garamond) that reflects the ceremony's formality and warmth. A glossary section introduces Habesha coffee vocabulary — Buna, Jebena, Abol, Tona, Baraka — turning the site into a cultural introduction as much as a booking page.
Service tiers and what's included are laid out with complete clarity — location flexibility, on-site bean roasting, traditional cups, frankincense, optional snack add-ons. The site closes with a direct note from Lulu, in her own voice, grounding the commercial offering in genuine hospitality. Deployed on Vercel for fast load times on mobile.
